Pick Your Own Flowers: Burnside Farms' Tulip Festival
If you're looking for a fun and colorful day trip outside of DC, Burnside Farms should definitely be on your list. Located in Nokesville, Virginia, this flower farm hosts an annual tulip festival every April, where visitors can walk through acres and acres of tulip fields and pick their own fresh flowers.
I recently visited Burnside Farms for the tulip festival and was blown away by the beauty of the fields. There were tulips of every color, from bright reds and pinks to soft yellows and whites, and the fields stretched on for what seemed like miles. It was truly a photographer's dream, with endless opportunities for beautiful photos.
One of the things I loved most about the festival was the ability to pick my own tulips. Each ticket allows you to pick 5 stems, so I was able to create a beautiful bouquet of white, pink, and red tulips to take home with me. It was a fun and unique experience, and I loved being able to handpick my own flowers.
While the tulip festival is over now, Burnside Farms has another festival coming up in the summer: the sunflower festival. This event runs from late June to early September and allows visitors to pick their own sunflowers. I'm already planning my trip back to Burnside Farms for this festival, as I can't wait to see the fields of bright and cheerful sunflowers.
Overall, I highly recommend Burnside Farms as a fun and family-friendly day trip outside of DC. Whether you're a flower lover or just looking for a beautiful and Instagram-worthy destination, this farm is definitely worth a visit.
